Problem 1: Slow or No Lifting
Causes:
- Low hydraulic fluid level
- Clogged hydraulic filter
- Worn hydraulic pump
- Air in system
Solution:
- Check fluid level (engine off, loader down)
- Replace filter if dirty
- Bleed air from system
- Test pump pressure (needs gauge)
Problem 2: Hydraulic Fluid Overheating
Causes:
- Low fluid level
- Clogged oil cooler
- Wrong fluid viscosity
- Relief valve stuck open
Solution:
- Clean radiator and oil cooler fins
- Check fluid type (ISO 46 or AW-46)
- Replace relief valve if faulty
Problem 3: Leaking Hydraulic Cylinders
Quick Fix:
- Replace rod seal kit ($30-80)
- Clean rod before reassembly
- Check rod for scratches (replace if damaged)
Problem 4: Jerky or Erratic Movement
Causes:
- Air in hydraulic lines
- Contaminated fluid
- Sticking spool valve
Preventive Maintenance Schedule
- Every 50 hours: Check fluid level
- Every 500 hours: Change filter
- Every 1000 hours: Replace fluid
- Annually: Inspect hoses and fittings
⚠️ Safety First: Relieve all hydraulic pressure before disconnecting lines. Fluid injection injuries are serious!
